Jefferson County Packet Nodes

Node call: N8GD-11 (highest profile Node for Jefferson County @ 1300' AMSL; Also functions as a digipeater)
Node alias: JEFFOH (this alias also connects to the Node and can be used as a digipeater)
Software: BPQ32 Ver 6.0.22.1 (Windows)
Operating Frequencies/Baudrates:
145.070 MHz 1200 Baud
Location: Wintersville, Ohio (center of village)
Contact:
Greg, N8GD
N8GD@WINLINK.ORG
n8gd@arrl.net
Additional notes:
BBS: Links to WINTOH:N8GD-3 BBS via an IP path, failover to RF via 145.07 MHz if IP is down
Digis: N8GD-11 & JEFFOH
Other: Highest node location @ 1300' AMSL for best connectivity
Note: Access the WINTOH:N8GD-3 BBS using either "BBS" or "WINTOH" commands directly from this node

Node call: N8GD-7 (main Node for Jefferson County; Also functions as a digipeater)
Node alias: WINTVL (this alias also connects to the Node and can be used as a digipeater)
Software: BPQ32 Ver 6.0.22.1 (Windows)
Operating Frequencies/Baudrates:
145.070 MHz 1200 Baud
145.010 MHz 1200 Baud
Intra-D9 bridging of 145.070 MHz 1200 Baud to 145.010 MHz 1200 Baud
Location: Wintersville, Ohio
Contact:
Greg, N8GD
N8GD@WINLINK.ORG
n8gd@arrl.net
Additional notes:
BBS: N8GD-3 (alias WINTOH), Sponsored by TERA/ARES
Winlink RMS Gateway: N8GD-10 (VHF only)
Digis: N8GD-7 & WINTVL
Other: This node/BBS is linked to JEFFOH:N8GD-11 via an IP path
Note: Access on the 145.01 MHz port is very limited since the antenna
on that frequency is highly directional @ 260 degrees (close to due West)
to allow for connectivity to the HARCO:KB8YDK-1 node in Deersville, Ohio

The HARCO:KB8YDK-1 node went down at 9:30 PM local time on 9/19/2021. It was restored
to normal operation at 3:00 PM on 10/1/2021 (the failing power supply was replaced).
Thus, connectivity to/from the west via the HARCO node has now returned to normal.

Nodecall: KC8YJJ-7
Note: KC8YJJ is no longer on the air. This includes the KC8YJJ-7 KA-Node, KC8YJJ-1 Kantronics PBBS, and most importantly, the KC8YJJ-10 Winlink RMS Gateway all on 145.07 MHz. KC8YJJ is also no longer operating his HF RMS Gateway. The only path into Jefferson County as of mid-August 2021 is via HARCO:KB8YDK-1 on 145.01 MHZ in Deersville, Ohio, then to WINTVL:N8GD-7. Contact N8GD (above) for further info.

As of 8/11/2021, the primary Winlink system in Jefferson County and eastern Ohio is now N8GD-10
which operates VHF only (for the time being) on 145.07 MHz. It can be reached directly on that
frequency but you may also connect to that RMS Gateway via the N8GD-11 node, also on 145.07 MHz
which is at a better elevation for all users. HF access will be forthcoming via VARA.
