Here is a list of things we are collectively working on.

Purchase

  • Acquire/split up power supplies at CMHSW2, CMHSW3, CMHSW4, #RCHWD to handle higher load from Midland LMR Radios
  • Acquire large spool (1000ft) of RG-213 and PL-259 Connectors. ***Update 11/08/09*** Secured 3 500ft rolls of LMR400 clone cable. 1st roll is consumed post MECH install.
  • Continue to acquire gear/test equipment for shared workshop. Will need antennas to cover as much HF as possible, 6m, 2m, 222 MHz, 70cm. Spare power supplies, few computers for workstations/web search, eprom burning facilities, packet host to test cables for 4 main interfaces: soundmodem(Linux), DRSI, TNC2, Kantronics 9 pin.
  • Locate portable computer, 20amp switching power supply and appropriate cabling for a portable LMR programming station covering both Syntech I and XTR/Syntech II models.
  • Syntech I programmer. Ordered on 5/5, expected ship on 5/7. ***Update 6/02/09*** Programmer arrived, successfully programming Z-273 and Z-383 modules.
  • Diamond MX-2000 (6m/2m/70cm) Triplexers with pigtails to allow connections to LMR radios.
  • SWR Meter effective up to 1200 MHz for usage for 33cm and 23cm antenna construction. (Diamond SX-1100) ***Update 1/26/10*** Meter purchased

Develop/Test

  • What can we do to acquire more gear or funding?

Maintenance/Modifications

  • Inventory existing radio and TNC stock. Once inventoried, modify to ham bands. Mark each radio with center frequency and maximum power output. 7/08/10 Radios and TNCs inventory completed, begin modifications/tuning next.

Sites

  • Columbus/Battelle - 446.625 Radio seems to be slightly off frequency or is clipping due to over-deviation. Prepare LMR replacement wired for a DRSI DPK*2.
  • Columbus/Lincoln Tower - Tune VHF Duplexer for 144.390/144.930 to share GP-9 on 2m. Get inventory of existing antennas. Should be a 449-6S beam pointed towards Worthington and a 224WB pointed towards Lancaster.
  • Johnstown - 223.420 MHz link to Worthington is still not working at all. Replaced radio/TNC, verified SWR on antenna. Not making it to CMHSW2 or CMHSW3. May be overgrowth due to season. 6m link from CMHSW2 is making it seemingly well. Run ethernet cable to outbuilding, possibly establish backup AXIP/AXUDP links. Investigate the possible addition of a 446.975 port to serve as a backup to Lancaster/WW Hill. Directional antenna likely needed.
  • Lancaster/Firestation #1 - Radio, TNCs, Eproms (TheNet X-1J4) and Diplexer ready for installation to existing antenna. This should have a good path south to Marietta (MARC:W8HH-1), may also provide backup links to Guernsey (GNSY:K8AL-1) and Mechanicsburg (MECH:N8XIX-12) all on 145.010 MHz.
  • Lancaster/FMC - Radio, TNCs, computer are ready. Waiting to install V2000 and A270-6S. Will sunset BBS at LFARC Clubhouse afterwards.
  • Lancaster/WW Hill - Everything is on the air, need to install shelving system and update routes to WA8WNI and W8ALC.
  • Pataskala - Contact W8ALC to see if he has interest in hosting additional systems.
  • Mechanicsburg - Add additional 70cm antennas to allow links to Richwood and Springfield. Need one additional Radio and TNC. Will need to add 2 more ports to the BPQ polling cable.
  • Mutual - V2000 is in the air, 2m and 70cm radios available, nothing tentative yet.
  • Richwood - 2 of 3 antennas are installed, feedlines run. Need to install one additional mast to support last 2m antenna (F23) for APRS. Cabinet is finished. Radios, TNCs and computer is ready. Going to need help getting the cabinet up there.
  • South Vienna - Site inventory, see available antenna space, what bands are available for linking. Hoping this will open up a path to Dayton.
  • Springfield - Antenna space unavailable at this time. Need to relocate IRA VHF repeater first. Tentatively planning on a 70cm link to South Vienna and Mechanicsburg.
  • Worthington - 222 MHz link to Johnstown is not working, suspect Johnstown side. Verify 30m radio is on and function on 10.151 LSB, not seeing any long distance APRS activity.
  • Upper Sandusky - Get in contact with station engineer. See what facilties are available. Reach out to local club to see if any sponsorship can be gained (Mainly antennas, feedline and power supplies). Ideally would like to link to Richwood, possibly Mechanicsburg to the south then Findlay and Tiffin to the north.
