How to set up the callsign server.

Download the FCC callsign database: l_amat.zip
Download the Canadian callsign database: cdncaldb.zip

On a windows machine, create a temporary directory, and a subdirectory FCC in that temporary directory. I use c:\tmp\fcc. Extract the files AM.DAT, EN.DAT and HD.DAT from the L_AMAT archive and place them in the "fcc" subdirectory. If you also downloaded the Canadian callsign database, extract the file Amateur.rpt from the archive and put it into the "fcc" subdirectory as well. Open a DOS window and change the current directory to the temporary directory. Run the database indexing utility: WFCC. It will run for awhile, perhaps 5 minutes on a P-III/550. It creates a number of QTH files in the "fcc" subdirectory.

Copy the QTH files from the fcc subdirectory (c:\tmp\fcc) to your SNOS machine in directory \nos\fcc.

The "QTH" command will now be available from the console, the QTH and ZIP commands will be available from the node. The QTH command takes a list of callsigns, the ZIP command takes a zip code, or a range of zip codes.
